This month, our focus is going to be types of story. We'll start by looking at flash fiction - don't forget to read this week's story under the Weekly Reading tab!
We'll be looking at aspects of flash fiction such as what a flash fiction is; how to pack a punch in so few words; and what makes for successful flash fiction.
And bonus - it's national flash fiction day on the 15th of June!
If you're looking to start writing a flash fiction, I would recommend you start reading widely in this area. Fortunately, many of the pieces we have already reviewed are flash fictions!
I also gave a really useful prompt in yesterday's post about writing two sentence stories. This is a great way to build up your confidence to write a flash fiction. By writing two sentence stories, you'll get a real feel of how to distill information whilst still maintaining an interesting plot.
I would also suggest you having a look under the Writing Prompts tab as this should give you some ideas on how to get started if you're stuck for a topic.
Happy writing!
