How To Review With Confidence

Editing your work is always going to be a daunting process to start with, but here are some tips on how to feel confident in making those changes:

1. Ask other people for their advice. I gave a lot of information about this in the Reviewing Your Own Work post, but remember to also ask friends and family for advice. They don't have to be an author in order to be able to read your work and give you editing tips - they'll be your audience after all!

2. Remember that editing is good and all authors do it. If you think that authors just churn out pages of writing and submit them right away, you're wrong!

Most stories, especially longer pieces, go through a few significant edits before they're even sent off to a real editor.

3. Know what you're looking for. In my next blog post, I'll be giving you a few more pointers as to what to look out for when you're trying to review your work. Once you're familiar with these, you'll feel a lot more confident when you review your own work. Getting in lots of practice will also help you know what to look out for in the future.

Happy writing!
