It's a new week and another new theme - this week we're focusing on point of view.
Point of view is a great follow on from character: will you be using their point of view or a third person perspective? How might your character be disposed to see things differently?
For example, if your main character is an artist, they might see the beauty in every day objects. If your character is depressed, they might struggle to see anything good in a beautiful object.
For some inspiration, try out a few of these prompts in your notebook. Write a character going into a coffee shop with these points of view:
1. Paranoid
2. Recently divorced
3. Returning to their childhood town
4. After getting some great news
5. Homeless
Consider how each character would feel in this coffee shop - the coffee shop can look however you want, you might even want to go out and try this exercise in a real coffee shop, but use the same one for each character so you can bring out the different details they might notice.
Does your character feel out of place? Do they have certain memories associated with the coffee shop? How has it changed? How do the noises make them feel?
Happy writing!
