Now you've reread your work, it's time to review it. This means evaluating what works and what needs changing.
I find the most effective way of reviewing your own work is to print it off and go through it word by word. Mark it as you would someone else's work, and don't be afraid to be critical.
In your work, every word should pull it's weight, and all speech and action should be plot driven. If you have a full page spent describing something really benign in detail, it's not going to be interesting for your audience. It's really interesting to see which parts of your work hold your own attention, no matter how many times you've read them. If you find yourself skipping over parts, maybe there's a reason for that.
This week I'll be talking about the importance of reviewing your own work, how to feel confident with your choices and how to review successfully.
Happy writing!
