So you've started writing in your notebook already, but what else can you write about? This week, I will be focusing on different kinds of prompts to get you inspired with your writing.
Sentence Starters:
1. I could feel his eyes burning into the back of my head...
2. "How did you get that scratch on your hand?" ...
3. I reached carefully to the counter behind his back...
4. The last time I saw [name]...
5. Standing outside his/her house, I looked up to the window of the only person I had ever loved...
6. I took my last step towards the edge...
7. He/she just stood there. I wished they would...
You can find more suggestions online depending on what genre you want to write, but sometimes picking a sentence starter you wouldn't normally choose can help you broaden your horizons and think more carefully about what you are writing - your characterisation, your dialogue and your inflection.
Sentence starters are great because you can go so many ways with them. You can use them to start your piece or end it, or even both!
You can also try changing the perspective you write from, or use the first story you write to write another!
Try writing a few short stories with the above sentence starters and see where they take you!
Happy writing!
P.S. Don't forget to check back later today for this week's reading material which I will review at the end of the week!
