This week's short story is a piece by Erika Murdey.

I found this a great light read - the story, or rather list of instructions, is playful and yet somehow existential towards the ending. It's funny, witty, and also makes you think. Written as instructions on how to make the perfect peanut butter and jelly sandwich, our writer gets more and more confused as to what would actually constitute the 'perfect' anything.
Have some fun reading this story, it could even be good to start writing your own story along these lines for some practice. It's always good to try writing something a bit different, and it's easy with such a formulaic structure as this!
I'd love to hear some of your suggestions on short stories you've really enjoyed reading. This month is all about broadening your horizons and reading for fun (although I do try to make all of my weekly readings as interesting as possible - if I don't want to read them, you definitely won't!)
Happy writing!
