This week's reading is a flash fiction by Jose Louis Lucero from the literary magazine Mistake House.

I love how this story leaves you guessing from the title - the points follow on from each other, but which, if any, are true? The topic is also really interesting as this game was one of the first ice breakers we played in my creative writing classes - two truths and a lie. Creative writing is all about being a good story teller, and while you may be inspired by reality, you also need to know how to fabricate stories effectively.
Getting creative with lists is very popular in flash fiction, especially as it allows you to reveal some, but not all of a story. Flash fiction as a genre is designed to be snappy and not give everything away - I'm sure you could turn these ten points into a whole novel if you were to fill in all the gaps.
Happy writing!
